With a commitment to "Navigating Excellence, leading with Integrity," the Nautical Department aims to produce highly skilled, disciplined, and responsible maritime professionals capable of serving the global shipping industry with competence, integrity, and confidence. To achieve this vision, the department has established the following specific objectives.

1. Academic Excellence

• Deliver high-quality maritime education aligned with international standards and best practices.

• Develop competent Deck and Navigation Officers capable of serving on international merchant ships.

• Promote continuous learning, professionalism, and lifelong career development.

2. Professional Competence

• Develop competencies required under the STCW Convention for certification as Officer of the Watch and subsequent progression to Master.

• Provide practical training through bridge simulators, laboratories, workshops, and onboard sea training.

• Strengthen decision-making, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork skills essential for shipboard operations.

3. Safe Navigation

• Prepare cadets to conduct safe navigation using modern navigational technologies, electronic navigation systems, and Bridge Resource Management (BRM).

• Develop competence in voyage planning, ship handling, collision avoidance, watchkeeping, cargo operations, and emergency response.

4. Maritime Safety and Security

• Promote a strong safety culture through education on SOLAS, COLREG, ISM Code, ISPS Code, and international maritime regulations.

• Develop the knowledge and skills required for emergency preparedness, search and rescue (SAR), firefighting, survival, and crisis management.

• Environmental Stewardship

• Foster environmentally responsible ship operations through education on MARPOL, marine pollution prevention, ballast water management, waste management, energy efficiency, and climate-resilient maritime practices.

• Encourage responsible stewardship of marine ecosystems and sustainable utilization of ocean resources.

5. Maritime Law and Ocean Governance

• Develop understanding of international maritime law, UNCLOS 1982, maritime jurisdiction, marine resource governance, and international conventions governing shipping.

• Promote awareness of legal and ethical responsibilities in international maritime operations.

6. Research and Innovation

• Encourage research, innovation, and technological advancement in navigation, maritime safety, digital shipping, autonomous navigation, marine environmental protection, and sustainable shipping.

• Foster collaboration with national and international maritime institutions and industry partners.

7. Industry Engagement

• Strengthen partnerships with shipping companies, maritime authorities, classification societies, and international organizations to enhance practical training and employment opportunities.

• Produce graduates who meet the evolving competency requirements of the global maritime industry.

8. Leadership and Professional Ethics

• Develop officers with integrity, discipline, accountability, intercultural competence, and leadership qualities capable of managing multicultural shipboard environments.

• Instill ethical values and professional responsibility in accordance with international maritime standards.

9. Blue Economy and Sustainable Development

• Support Bangladesh's Blue Economy through the development of highly skilled maritime professionals.

• Contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
