The admission requirements and selection procedures presented below are based on the Integrated Marine Cadet Admission Policy, 2019 (সমন্বিত মেরিন ক্যাডেট ভর্তি নীতিমালা-২০১৯) issued by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, together with the relevant government orders, circulars, rules, and regulations issued from time to time by the Ministry of Shipping/the Department of Shipping. Marine Fisheries Academy follows these policies and regulatory.

Admission to the Pre-Sea Nautical Cadet Programme at Marine Fisheries Academy (MFA), Chattogram is conducted through the Integrated Marine Cadet Admission System under the supervision of the Ministry of Shipping and the Department of Shipping. Selection is based on academic merit, physical fitness, medical standards, and performance in the admission test.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Academic Qualifications

• Passed SSC (or equivalent) and HSC (Science) or equivalent from a recognized education board.

• Minimum GPA 3.50 (or 60% marks) in both SSC and HSC examinations.

• Minimum 60% marks (or equivalent GPA) separately in Physics and Mathematics at the HSC level.

• Minimum 50% marks (or GPA 3.00) in English. Candidates with less than 50% marks in English must possess an IELTS score of at least 5.5.

English Medium Applicants

• Passed O-Level with Physics and Mathematics.

• Passed A-Level with at least five subjects, including Physics, Mathematics, and English.

Age

Maximum age: 21 years on the date specified in the admission circular.

Physical Standards

Minimum Height

• Male: 162.5 cm (5 ft 4 in)

• Female: 157.5 cm (5 ft 2 in)

Body Mass Index (BMI): Between 17 and 27, in accordance with WHO guidelines.

Eyesight: Unaided visual acuity: 6/6 in each eye for Nautical Cadets.

Candidates must satisfy the medical fitness standards prescribed by the Department of Shipping.

Nationality: Must be a Bangladeshi citizen.

Marital Status: Must be unmarried at the time of admission.

Online Application

Candidates seeking admission to the Pre-Sea Nautical Cadet Programme must apply online through the designated admission portal by following the instructions provided in the official admission advertisement. Applications must be submitted within the prescribed deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Written Admission Test (Written/MCQ subjected to the advertisement for admission)

• Physics – 25 Marks

• Mathematics – 25 Marks

• English – 25 Marks

• Bangla – 10 Marks

• General Knowledge – 15 Marks

• Pass Mark: 40%

Physical Fitness Test

• 400-metre run

• 10 push-ups

• Rope climbing (minimum 3 metres)

• Continuous swimming (minimum 60 metres)

Viva Voce

• Final Medical Examination by an approved Government Medical Board.

• Only candidates who successfully complete all stages of the selection process and meet the prescribed medical standards are eligible for final admission to the Nautical Cadet Programme.
